Our Community Engagement program builds a cleaner, more connected, and more resilient Memphis by bringing together residents, businesses, and organizations to champion environmental sustainability. We equip community leaders to serve as key stakeholders in driving lasting change.
In 2024, we expanded our community education efforts through a series of workshops on a range of topics. These workshops now serve as a tool to expand knowledge across the city concerning issues in the solid waste system. Some topics include how to navigate the Memphis and Shelby County solid waste systems, including recycling; how to access city services that address waste-related issues; and focused units on food waste, stormwater & watersheds, and the circular economy. These workshops are offered to the public free of charge – see the form below to learn more!
We also collaborate with neighborhood groups, government agencies, and local businesses to coordinate volunteer events. From large-scale festivals like River Roots to employee engagement through FedEx Cares; from partner-led cleanups to corporate waste sorts that divert trash from landfills, our events offer volunteers hands-on, meaningful ways to take action for a cleaner Memphis.
