Volunteers cleaning up on the cobblestones along the Wolf River Harbor

Recently, the Clean Memphis team joined Memphis City BeautifulMemphis River Parks Partnership, and Wolf River Conservancy in coordinating a riverside cleanup project for A New Century of Service day of action.

On May 22, United Way of the Mid-South and Volunteer Odyssey invited service-minded Memphians to give back to the community in honor of the City of Memphis’ Bicentennial Celebration.

60 volunteers braved the early rain and were rewarded with a beautiful, sunny morning for their project. They spent the morning picking up litter and stacking driftwood that washed up along the historic Memphis cobblestone landing and riverfront. Volunteers also spread mulch around trees in the Fourth Bluff park as part of a beautification project for the riverfront parks.
